YOUTH REPORT
Youth Alpha - We ran a Youth Alpha course with the Junior church group (aged 11-18) from January to March. After I met with most of the young people and as the year progressed some decided to witness to their faith through Baptism, 6 so far. A Discipleship group for these young people has started running monthly ran by Alan Sanders.
Soul Survivor - The young people went to Stafford for 5 days where they had fun worshiping God with 3000 young people from across the country. Over the week at least 50 young people made a commitment. The week included teaching seminars, gigs, café’s, resources and sporting activities.
SCAM - The group has now been running nearly 2 years. The group now runs fortnightly on Tuesdays during term time. Since September we have had some new members. The sessions usually involve some fun games, free time e.g. playing snooker or craft, tuck shop & a God spot.
SNYF - This group is for year 9 and above. We have discussions, games and learn together about God. This group is now a social time some weeks.
Schools Work - Since September Ben has taken over the leadership of the school clubs. Ben is continuing his training with Hope City church and works 1 day spread over 2 days for the Oaks. The days of the groups have also changed to Mondays at Dronfield Henry Fanshaw School (Cross fire, years 7-9 & Vibe after school, years 9 plus. The Lunch club is still relatively small and has some non-Christians which attend. Since the day change the group at Eckington High school on Fridays has now grown to about 12 members.
Bus Project - We now have a new bus for the project (a Single Decker), based in the civic most Fridays. We have developed relationships with a core group of about 15 young people. There are 3 teams so that each volunteer gets one Friday off in three. Each team has at least 6 volunteers some of which are now young people from the Oaks. Each week we go out from 8-10pm and serve free hot drinks & cookies to the young people. They really appreciate what we do every week and often ask questions about why we do it & God. Recently we have been sharing testimonies with them which has been very encouraging for all involved.
Training - In September 6 volunteers went to the Sheffield Yorkshire Youth Worker conference with me. They all found the seminars very helpful.
Hope 08 - 24 hrs of prayer, Big litter pick, Gardening day, Zone activity week, Praise in the wood, Slum Survivor, Journey to Bethlehem.
Future - Young people go to Malawi 2010.
