Jolly Crafters Report

For a few years now the idea of running a Craft Club interrupted my daily life on a regular basis.   I kept putting it to the back of the filing cabinet (my brain) but it kept resurfacing along with the words “Here I am Lord, It is I Lord.  I have heard you calling in the night.  I will go Lord, if you lead me.”

With the Open Arts weekend looming on the horizon, the idea of a craft club wouldn’t leave my thoughts.  Therefore following a lot of prayer, I decided to gauge interest during the Open Arts weekend.  Even I couldn’t have predicted the number of people who expressed an interest.

In September we had our first two sessions (Monday evening and Saturday morning).  Over the two sessions we had around 12 people attending.  Now we have almost 30 people on the books with attendance over the two sessions averaging around 16-18.  Of the 30 members, approximately 10 do not attend Dronfield Baptist Church, and most of these 10 do not attend any church.  Over time with the witness of Church members I pray this will change.

In the meantime Jolly Crafters will continue to provide a warm welcome to all who want to try their hand at papercrafting and improve their skills.  (Already one church member, who will not be named, has mastered the art of being able to stick paper together without everyone around her getting glued as well!)  I pray the time of fellowship will not only be rewarding to individuals in what they are achieving, but will also, in the Lord’s time, lead people to getting to know Him more.

We meet on the second Monday and second Saturday of each month and new members, from novices to experienced crafters, are always welcome to join us as we face challenges of learning new techniques and make greetings cards, gift boxes and memory albums.  BUT be careful – it can become addictive.
