DBC Finance Team
Using the idea of Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven Church as our base, the Finance Team was created in order to provide support and to a certain extent accountability for the Church Treasurer.
The team meets up to 4 times a year to discuss finance issues that affect the church both directly and indirectly, practically and strategically. It is a source for considering ideas as to how we can make use of any surplus funds and a forum for dealing with any aspects of church finance that may have been raised in the Leadership Team, Church Member’s Meetings or filtered through individual church members.
We are concerned with ensuring the finances of the church are used in the best possible way and in line with God’s plan for the growth of His Kingdom. This includes reviewing existing giving made by the church, determining the needs of new as well as existing areas of support and monitoring the balance of regular expenditure against income.
One particular aspect that has arisen from the team is the creation of an annual church service focussed on finance and giving. This is an opportunity for the Treasurer with the support of the Leadership Team to help the wider church fellowship keep in mind the work that goes on through financial resources and the most efficient ways that people can give.
