Discipleship

Challenge from God’s Word: Matthew 28 v 19 & 20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

We are commanded to make disciples not just converts!

Salvation is the free gift of our Sovereign God – discipleship is the responsibility of working that out daily in our lives. We do nothing but accept God’s gift to be born again but if we want to avoid being still born or remaining babies we have to grow – discipleship.

Discipleship – your personal growth with Jesus. We have a plan – or at least a way of providing you with opportunities to develop your Christian life.

Growth and maturity in Christ don’t just happen – we have a plan! We try to provide a range of activities to help all of us to grow closer to God – whatever our starting point. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been a Christian or whether you are just interested – we have something to help you. All it needs is for you to ask or put yourself forward.

Bible Reading Notes

It’s not unusual for us to think that Bible reading is what we hear on Sunday and what we might do in a Fellowship group. Those are certainly valuable times to understand the Bible but we are also challenged to read God’s Word daily and to try and understand it. Bible reading notes of various types and levels are available for you to purchase and use. There is the Closer to God website providing a daily reading by Scripture Union - http://www.closertogod.org.uk/. There is even a free website version www.scriptureunion.org.uk/wordlive that delivers a daily email for you to read and ponder. For more details contact Steve Pillar

Library

We have developed an extensive library of Christian books for you to borrow and read. Christian life stories, bibles, challenging aspects of the Christian life, study books and much much more make up the Church library. We might even be able to buy a book for the library that you are interested in and for which the whole church might benefit. For more details contact Steve Pillar

Mentoring

Sometimes it helps just to be able to talk through some points with someone you know has some life experience as a Christian. Not just if you are a new Christian but perhaps there’s a new area of Christian service you want to explore, a new skill you want to develop, a new direction you want to consider – and you just want someone who’s been there, “got the T-shirt” so to speak, to talk it over with. We have a number of people willing and able to share their experience with you in a way that makes sense of what you are seeking. For more details contact one of the Elders.

Guided Reading

Have you ever wondered “What should I read next?”. We are happy to help you consider the next book to read in your Christian development or to plan the use of a selection of books to explore an area in depth. For more details contact Steve Pillar

Membership and Baptism Course(6 weeks)

Thinking about membership or baptism and what it means?   We organise courses whenever there is a need and are always willing and ready to talk to anyone who is interested. For more details contact any of the Elders.
