Deacons
We take our understanding of a Deacons role from the New Testament and confirm those principles from within our Constitution.

New Testament

In the early church the role of a deacon was considered to be very important. Function and character of a deacon are set down in the New Testament. As usual very high standards are set especially in 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and in Titus 1:7-9.

Our Church Constitution:

‘The deacons, together with the Minister, shall be responsible for the spiritual leadership, oversight and day to day administration of the church, and shall act on behalf of the church between church meetings, decisions being subject to ratification at the next church meeting.’

'They shall be of mature disposition, and shall be elected from among the full members of not less than six month standing’
