CANOE CLUB
The club has continued to grow this past year, with quite a few new young members. While Crowson’s Crew never really got off the ground this year, the slalom club has enjoyed a good turn out and, hopefully, will continue through this winter under the instruction of Dave Wilson.
We have been involved with Mainstream (Christians in Canoeing) as much as, if not more than, usual with the Mainstream AGM being held at High Farm; and through the Family Camp which will be coming to Chesterfield next year. Also, as usual, we have been involved in other events such as the “Come and Try it” weekend at Ross on Wye, the H2O below zero weekend, Kepplewray and training weekends also held at the farm.
The club has maintained close contacts with Norton College pool and the local Chesterfield Canal through the Norton Summer Kayaking Courses and the Canal Capers and Canal Clean Up days. The new toilet block, mezzanine level for storage of the boats and now our Camping Barn (complete with wood burning stove) make it possible to cater for a wider range of people than ever before.
There is still work to be done in bringing God’s Word to our club members, we are making progress and it is strengthening to know we are thought of and prayed for.
I look forward to seeing what the New Year brings for our club, and feel sure the Lord’s hand is guiding us onwards.
